Urinary Stress Incontinence (involuntary loss of urine with cough or sneeze for example) is a significant complaint for over 10 million American women. Because of embarrassment it is frequently not discussed with the doctor. At Piedmont OB/GYN we are not only capable of making the appropriate diagnosis, we can also offer 2 different types of out patient surgical repairs to correct the problem, and let you get back to the active life you've been wanting.
The Tension-free Vaginal Tape Procedure (TVT) can be done under spinal or general anesthesia through the same day surgery unit at Frye Regional Medical Center. Patients are usually discharged several hours after the procedure and have only minimal time out of work. This TVT procedure is typically effective in 85-90% of cases, which is as good as any of the more complicated procedures that were previously done for this problem. The SURx Procedure is another new procedure that involves application of a radio frequency energy to the bladder neck. It is also done as an outpatient and is so simple that patients generally go home within 2-4 hours and can return to work (except for heavy lifting) within 24 hours. The SURx Procedure uses precisely controlled, low power radio frequency (RF) energy to heat and shrink stretched tissue under the bladder neck and urethra, and to restore the normal continence mechanism. It is usually most effective for mild to moderate problems with incontinence.
Isn't it time you got your life back, without the hassle and inconvenience of wearing protection everyday. Call for an appointment to talk to one of our physicians to see if one of these procedures are right for you. |
