1st trimester Reminders

No sex, and no tampons if you have any vaginal bleeding. Call the office to report it.

If you are having severe nausea and vomiting and unable to keep anything down, call the office. Even if you are unable to keep any solid food down, the baby will grow appropriately. It is very important however, that you drink enough fluids. Don’t worry about your vitamins if they are making you feel worse (try Flintstones if you’d like) Food and drink are more important.

If you are over 35, you should be thinking about the possibility of an amniocentesis around 15 wks.

Your appts are every 4 wks.

You can take Tylenol, Sudafed, Robitussin DM, Imodium AD, Pepcid, Tums, Maalox, Mylanta, Emetrol, as needed

2nd trimester Reminders

You should begin to feel the baby move sometime around 20 wks. Your appts are every 4 wks until 28 wks, then every 2 wks.

Your diabetes testing is at 28 wks. Don’t eat or drink anything sweet before you come. Plan to stay for 1 hour to get blood drawn. You’ll have a pelvic exam that day.

It’s normal to feel some irregular contractions. If they occur more than 4-5 an hour, call the office.

Your hospital pre admit papers should be done!

If this is your first pregnancy, you should be signing up for prenatal education classes. They’re free and very helpful even if you plan an epidural.

3rd trimester Reminders

Your appts are every 2 wks until 36 wks. They are then weekly. Pelvic exams are done weekly starting at 35-36 wks.

We will be doing a culture for the bacteria "Group B Streptococcus" at 35-36 wks. If this comes back positive, you will need antibiotics when in labor.

You must report any leaking of your bag of water, even if you have just a little leaking. You also should call for regular contractions every 5 minutes.

We would let you go up to 2 wks over your due date, as long as we have testing which assures us that your baby is healthy.

Labor and delivery is on the 3rd floor at Frye hospital. You need to call the doctor on call before going.
