The unit features six spacious birthing rooms, two antepartum (testing) rooms, two cesarean section rooms, a recovery room, plus centralized monitoring.

Lactation Consultants

Also included in the nursing staff at Frye are certified lactation consultants who, along with the staff nurses, provide assistance to mothers who choose to breastfeed their infants. Information is provided for establishing and maintaining a milk supply, pumping and storage of milk, breastfeeding assistance, and support groups. The Women's Pavilion features a lactation room that is utilized for the instruction of breastfeeding and offers a number of resources which may be beneficial to mothers.

Postpartum Home Health

This program is designed for the healthy infant and mother who are discharged from the hospital after a short stay of 2-3 days. A skilled nurse will visit in the home 1-2 days after discharge to check on the mother and infant. At this time, any questions concerning the infant's care and feeding will be discussed. Postpartum home visits are offered to mothers having their first infant; breastfeeding for the first time; or by request from by physician.

Neonatal Home Health

Frye Home Services "Wee Care" Neonatal Program assists new parents in the care of their infant with specialized needs. The neonatal nurse provides educational assistance, medical treatments and emotional support to the caregivers to promote the well being and growth towards independence for the family with the care of their infant. Services are provided by skilled neonatal nurses, certified lactation consultants, physical, occupational and speech therapists and medical social workers.

Pediatric Unit

The Pediatric Unit provides individualized care for children ages birth through 18 years. The ten bed unit is brightly decorated and maintains a family focus. Parents are encouraged to stay with their child and to take part in their recovery. The unit is staffed with RN's and CNA's that are excellent with children and enjoy their work. All RN's are certified in Pediatric Advanced life Support and have ongoing education to keep them abreast of changes in their field. CNA's are cross trained as ward secretaries, and are also involved in ongoing education. The staff works closely as a team to help promote comprehensive, quality care for each child.

Newborn Nursery

Our mission is to provide each infant with skilled, compassionate nursing care. Parents are supported with the education and encouragement needed to comfortably care for their baby at home. The Nursery care begins following delivery, through a stabilization period and remains available around the clock.

Parents have the option to "room in" with flexibility that meets their personal needs. Individual bedside instruction for parents by staff members is available 24 hours a day. From the newborn's first moments of life through the new family's hospital stay, Frye's nursery staff combine knowledge and skill to provide excellent newborn care.

ICU Nursery

The Intensive Care Nursery at Frye Regional Medical Center (Level III) is equipped to provide special care for premature, sick and/or infants with complications. Transport is provided by a specially equipped ground ambulance.

Outpatient Pediatric Therapy Program

The Outpatient Pediatric Therapy Program is also a vital part for the continuum of care after the child has been discharged. Fourteen of the rooms are quite spacious with room for a pull out lounge chair to allow a family member to stay overnight. Flexible "rooming in" is offered so that new parents can spend as much time as they desire with their new baby as well as allow periods of rest when needed.
